Hola Mi Amigos y Familia

This has been a real good week and its only gonna get better. I got good news.. this transfer me and Elder King are training in a trio. It's gonna be a great opportunity and its going to just help me continue to grow and learn more things. This week has been great, we have seen many miracles and it has helped the area out a lot. We have met lots of new people and have just started to figure out the area really well. We found an apartment in the middle of our area and its right next to the train so its amazing. I'm doing real good and I'm happy to be out here in California. It's really weird thinkin that Elder King is going to be leaving me in a  month and a half.  It's gonna be a bummer. I've met some awesome members this week an I'm loving the area even more than I did before. I love all of you.

The Church is True

Well sitting in the Apple store in the galleria in gGlendale has never been so sweet. This week has been real good. A member in the ward owns a Mexican restaurant and he is a way cool guy, super nice. He gave us his horchatta recipe and we are way excited to go and make some today. Our house is right next to Forest Lawn Cemetary and John Wayne is buried there. So we hopefully can go and be able to meet the Duke. Michael Jackson is buried there too. But anyway this week has been another busy week we are really working hard. I already get comments from people about how worn my shoes are because we walk so many miles. I polish them almost twice a week so its crazy. But we met a lady named Yolie.  That was a miracle! She has a son in prison and we started to teach her we are so excited for her, she prayed. We also started teaching our apartment manager and we set him up with a baptismal date so I'm excited about that. Preach my gospel is such a great tool that we have and I'm so grateful for that. We did a service project and helped a man set up 2000 Halloween lights and all sorts of stuff.  I will send a picture when we are all finished.  The work is going good and I'm happy to see progress. I'm kinda nervous for transfers. I don't wanna split up from Elder King yet, but I will go where I need to. We studied family history and how temple work is so important. It was pretty cool and it really is amazing how important it is. Well family and friends I love you all so much.

This has been a week....

This has been a week I'll tell ya that. It has been one of the hardest and greatest. I'll explain why the greatest first. Well the work has truly kicked off. Me and Elder King have got our heads screwed down and are making some solid progress. We picked up 3 investigators this week and that has been truly great. The miracles I see out here are so abundant that sometimes I need to pinch myself to see if I'm in real life. I picked out my Scripture for my plaque and it is Jeremiah 16:16,17. It talks about hunting and fishing for people. I think of what I'm doing is hunting for souls. While you all are out chasing deer and killing elk I'm finding families and placing invites. I do my best to get creative. One of these days I'm going to see a flock of geese or ducks fly over me but for now I'm digging the pigeons. The work is really hastening and I can see it every day. We are starting to create an area book and making an impact. California/world needs all the help it can get. My mission has been so much to me already and I see the change in myself and others. The members here are getting more excited to be involved in the work and it has been a big help. We walk and bus everywhere and we are trying to get President Beccera to let us ride scooters. We would look a little goofy but we would be able to work lots faster. Now the sadder part of the week.  As most if not all of you know we lost a solider this week due to a bicycle accident. That has been a big pill to swallow. Its been hard for me because he has only been out as long as me and he was a strong elder and had great faith. He was a Spanish speaking elder. Yesterday we had a memorial service for him. Its been an eye opener because his dad passed away a few years ago and Elder Page was the priesthood holder in the house. He said his mission was to teach people the plan of salvation. He did teach people it! His companion said every lesson, every contact, every interaction was about the plan of salvation. He made an impact on me because it built my testimony to know that Elder Pages work was not over, he fulfilled his duty here and will continue in the spirit world it even says that in D and C 138 vs 57. Knowing that what we have as the members of this church brings joy and comfort into my life. Sister Beccera gave a talk about empathy and how he looked in the ER room. Because his mom wasn't able to make it, she described in detail how perfect he looked and how she tended to him like a mother would. I thought a lot about that and how much that would mean to Sister Page to know that her son was in the hands of the best Presidents around. I want you all to know that I love you and that every day is a hill, never reach the top because once there you have to go down and that's one thing we cannot do. Push forward and be together as one. Have a great week and god bless.

Conference Weekend

Well this has been a great week. California is treating me pretty well I cant lie about that. 94 degrees the other day so its nice and toasty but i love it. I can finally say that this week has been the best one. The work really started to flow. We got 2 new investigators this week so we can start our teaching pool which is nice. Tuesday was good, we showed up at an appointment but no one was home so we decided to knock a street. The first door we knocked we got a pretty good conversation going and we made a follow up appointment which fell through later but it was still a miracle. Wednesday we were able to have dinner with a less active family and that went real well the family is great and they committed to watching conference so that was a plus. It's amazing how the spirit can work. Sometimes we use Mormon messages a lot in our teachings and those really invite the spirit. Friday was really when the miracles started happening. We had the Spanish elders give a blessing to one of our less active members mom it was so cool and they got an investigator out of it. We had dinner with a part member family and picked up an investigator, so that was a great miracle. After that we went over to another part member less active house and we got another investigator. It was a really good night and it grew my testimony immensely. So general conference was a good one. On Saturday the thing that stood out to me was the emphasis on members in missionary work it is so true. Members really do set the example and they make people want to learn more. I know that we can all do better at this by extending the invitation to our family and friends. Conference was great and they hit every topic it is so amazing how much stuff you can pull out of conference. I wish I had listened a lot more before my mission. Well today i went to the temple it was amazing the LA temple is so big and so beautiful. By far my favorite one so far. Well family and friends thanks so much for the support and love it truly does mean a lot.

Connor is currently serving in the Arcadia, California Mission. He entered the MTC on Sept. 4, 2013.
We invite you to share this journey with him.

Glendale, CA

well family and friends, I cant begin to tell you how sore I am and how grateful I am for gold bond. This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. ill tell ya its weird thinking I've been out for almost a month it don't feel like it. and Ill tell ya that California has some good diversity. since we are on foot and bus and bike occasionally I've met some interesting people. I like to call Glendale a melting pot. so my area is Glendale 2nd ward it is half Glendale and half easternish la. we have 700 members in the ward and about 130-170 are active. in the ward boundaries I hear 9 different languages ranging from tagalong to Armenian. and religions you would never guess existed. it truly has been a great week. at first we were getting discouraged due to fall through and what not and since we don't have an area book I was able to put the first teaching record in. but things were moving slow and the area is so big that we felt like we were hitting a wall. we finally came to our senses and fasted. im here to testify on the power of the sacrifice. in one day we started rolling again. its just another reminder that this is the lords work and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ requires his help. one thing that has been standing out to me this week is the characters of Christ. one of these characters is to turn outward when most people would turn in. now that the holidays are coming up I would like all of us to take that extra time and help that person in need. put forth the extra effort. this character is almost selfish because as we are selfless we are happier. its like a 2 fer 1 deal. I know that as we look for opportunites and really try to make a difference we will. I love all of you and  I know that we believe in the true church of Christ and we live by his principles. Im so excited for conference I have a feeling that this is going to be a good one its weird to think that last year at this time was when the age change came into affect and the rush of young men and women headed to the mtc. the members here are amazing I cant believe how much effort they put into helping us missionaries out. sister corrigan is an amazing women she is an extreme couponer and she was just handing out shampoo and soaps to us the other day. she gave me a new razor, 4 bottles of shampoo and everything that you can imagine its like a grocery store inside a house. I met a man that is a less active he was involved in gangs but he somewhat turned his life around. we are going by his house on Wednesday to play chess . its been a good week im so excited for this week good things are to come and the church is true.
                                                           sincerely,
